I can think of nothing witty at 1:52am so I'll simply go with AI S9 Beatles Week - Michael & Aaron

Apr 11, 2010 01:53

Typing this is not going to be as easy as usual, literally, because my recent gym kick (two weeks of actually exercising) means that I can now barely move my arms. This is bad because not only is use of your arms a good thing but also my attempt at learning how to play ‘I Am The Walrus’ has been halted. Admittedly the second one is probably good ( Read more... )

I think I more or less agreed with what you say. I have been recently comparing Michael to Ruben. I think I like Michael's voice a lot better though, but that's just a prefference. Aaron just reminds me so much of a mixture between Billy Gilman and High school Musical that I can't stand it. Not to mention, that he is flat about 90% of the time. I think he has a sweet voice though, for what it's worth. Can't wait to hear what you thought of Casey. This review has been echoing my thoughts so far.

Is Bill Gilman that child coutry singer?

I didn't wathc the season of Ruben so I've only heard him since then, although I was living in the States that year. But as much as his personality is a little out of my taste I do kind of like Michael's voice. It's not the kind of voice I'd buy a CD of but there's definitely something there.

Yep, that's who he is. Not really a country music fan, but I still have hope for Aaron. Needs a lot more training though.

It really, really bothers me that nobody has even mentioned Kris's name this entire season (outside of the context of Haiti and Idol Gives Back) and yet TWICE NOW someone has done a song he covered, one of those times being a few scant WEEKS after he did it. It's completely ridiculous now, especially when people are actually waiting for it. You can literally see Kris's shadow hovering over the judge's shoulders sometimes and yet it seems like they're afraid to say his name. I just don't get it ( ... )

There may be a little rant about this in the next post because...um...yeah it's definitely getting annoying. And I'm definitely looking out for it now. I wouldn't be if it had just been the once but twice is just ridiculous! It's more obvious by it's absense than it ever would have been if they'd just said it!

And I'm a little insulted by all of these "backstage glimpses" because it's really obvious that it's a way of getting people to connect with the contestants this year because it wasn't happening before. It really feels like this doesn't it! It's like they're pushing us to like people that just aren't connecting any other way. I've only really seen Season 8 and bits of season 7 but everything I've read about the previous seasons makes me think that there were people who ( ... )

Michael just stands there and takes the praise as if it’s his natural right.

This is the biggest thing about Big Mike that ticks me off most of all, omg. I appreciate his vocal, he's been better than most all season long, but his attitude just grates. And I mean, this is what reality TV is about - what you project is what you're judged for. And while a small part of me thinks 'oh, maybe I'm just taking it the wrong way and he really isn't a pompous jackass'... well. How many viewers are as magnanimous as I am? :P Not a whole lot. It's all about perception, and ngl, he's been pissing me off for a while now.

Let's not even talk about Aaron Kelly: The One Who Fails The Most When Choosing Songs. :| Oh, S9. What are we gonna do with you.

I think this a lot as well. After all, I'm pretty sure very few people analyse it all as much as I do. Gut instinct is very hard to ignore in things like this.

Oh, S9. What are we gonna do with you.

Who the hell knows! :)

Something about Big Mike rubs me the wrong way and I don't know what it is. I know that I feel uncomfortable watching him, but it's not because of the way he moves. I'm still trying to figure it out. I think it may be because his clothes never look as though they really seem to fit him... I dunno. It is a size thing, but Ruben was by far bigger and he just came across as the biggest teddy bear ever.

Aaron reminds me a lot of John Stevens, except not anywhere near as good. (I will note that I am extremely biased concerning John Stevens).

After last week’s step up it was a massive step back in the charisma, and enjoyability, department.
Um, this. I actually really liked what he did with the song, so I did enjoy the performance, if only because I love that song; he, however, while I found him better than he had been, failed to deliver performance-wise. Andrew, I'm disappoint.

Before, I was actually quite ambivelent to Aaron (like I am with most of the contestants this season.) But with every passing week, I'm finding him a little more and more annoying, like I did early on. At this poin, if given a choice between the two, I think I'd actually pick Tim to stay over Aaron.
And I never saw the comparisons between Aaron and Archie; I mean, thinking about it, I guess they're both nice, polite, very young looking boys, but beyond that? Nada.
