A minor disaster (with some advantages)

I'm still signing on for unemployment benefit, and this week they had booked me into a two-day course to improve my chances of finding work. I had been dreading this, mainly because I was afraid of being late for it, having fallen out of the habit of getting up early, and was not too keen on the whole idea of the damn course anyway. What a pain to find the leak but glad it wasn't worse. I find the longer courses the Job Centre send people on are a pita and are really just to comply with government directives and an attempt to make the unemployment numbers look better (as you are taken off the unemployment register while you do the courses). At least the two day one might actually be helpful although I found it's better suited to those people who aren't terribly savvy about job hunting.

I'd love a white Christmas ordinarily but I have to drive to #1 son's house and back again and I hate driving in snow or ice.

What a nasty awakening. I'm glad you were able to reschedule without difficulty. It was a blocked drain, then? Did you get the roof leaks fixed? I don't recall...

I hope that doesn't happen again and a white Christmas sounds nice in the song but the reality is often very different.
