The niece turned up, as promised, on New Year's Day, and we had a rather pleasant weekend together, despite slight resurgence of the virus-thing every time I got tired. Your niece might be interested to nip to Paris to see the Bonaparte et l'Egypte exhibition at Institut du Monde Arabe. If you book on the Eurostar website and can bear to travel at 7:00 am, there are £26 fares, too...

Is that Heather in the window box?

I have a leaky washing machine but it doesn't leak all the time so I'm trying to figure out what it likes to wash and what it doesn't. It's really very mysterious. Good luck with your leak problems.

Yes, it's heather; I was rather pleased to find three of the white sort, since it's a good bit harder to find than the ordinary purple.
