Watching paint dry

Well, I finally managed two days paid work this week, not counting turning up at the rapidly disintegrating Scary Hotel at 8.30 am on Wednesday to hear that a new company was in charge of the site, and I couldn't get onto the site until I'd had a safety induction, which had been at 8.15. What? They've gutted all six floors inside? And taken out the art deco bar? That pinkish paint is what I remember in the bedrooms.

I don't really recall that rose wallpaper in the entrance hall. It must have been very forgettable indeed.

The art deco bar is to be reconstructed in the basement, eventually, which is why we were called in to find the original colour scheme - it seems to have been a sort of almond green all over originally.

The entrance hall with the rose wall paper was the original main entrance, but might have just been for the three basement bars when you were there. That wallpaper is pretty unforgettable, but it would have been the textured gold finish before that.

This place is basically being knocked down to the basement, then rebuilt inside the original facade as a much smaller, more expensive hotel. The art deco bars in the basement are to be restored to their original state, which is why we are there.
