Open House Sunday

Today was the last of Open House weekend, which I normally miss because it conflict with the Thames festival, so I headed for Liverpool Street with the g-d and boyfriend. There are always too many places on the list to visit all the interesting-looking ones, and the City is probably the best area, since everything is within walking distance. ( Read more... )

What a wonderful idea! There are so many unvisited places in London and it's great they have them all open at least one weekend a year.
I love those little patches of green next to ancient buildings, one of the features that I find so endearing in London, even in the City. I didn't know there were Roman ruins under Leadenhall.

What a lovely way to spend the day...I hope you feel better!

I've added the link for Open House, which gives lists of buildings (eventually, it's a rather poorly designed website). They also list places open all year round, which might be interesting.

I hadn't heard about the Roman stuff under Leadenhall, but I imagine if you go down far enough anywhere in the City you hit Roman remains.

Where is the list of places open year round? That website is TERRIBLE.

Same with Sevilla...dig just a couple of feet and you start uncovering the layers.
