After the long build-up, the six-week appointment was over surprisingly quickly. The doctor, another member of my consultant's team who I'd never seen before, was pleased with my progress, and professed himself mildly surprised that I was still using even one crutch. WOW! That is one big metal joint you have there. I didn't realize it would be so big. The Bionic Woman!

Apparently it's mostly stainless steel with a titanium and hydroxyapatite coating, whatever that is. It's only just occured to me to wonder if it weighs more than the original joint and will tip me over sideways when I try to swim!

Titanium is used because of how strong and light it is so I doubt you're top heavy (leg heavy?) on that side.
