Didn't go in to college today, escaping some of the panel-painting duties by my noble offer to go to Ikea for light bulbs and clip-lights. They had the bulbs and lights, but hardly anything else, and I ended up spending quite a bit on exotic Swedish foodstuffs and essential fairy lights (one chain of summer flowers and one of birch leaves ( Read more... )

If you're going to be addicted to Daim bars, at least you can learn how to spell it. Did you try any of the pear cider while you were there?

Munchausen is an amazingly underrated film. I saw it several times in a row when it came out, which is something I don't think I've ever done with another film--I found it absolutely fascinating, and the story surprisingly profound. Thanks for reminding me how brilliant it is.

I'm tempted to dig out my copy and watch it again tonight. It was so dense. It also had what I think is one of the most beautiful scenes I've ever seen in a film, where the flying boat is sailing through a sea of stars, and gradually grounds on the sands of the moon. This is very clearly echoed by a similarly lovely scene in Pirates.

I was so tempted to get the fairy lights in IKEA yesterday but I was good and ended up with just the bathroom cabinet I was after plus a bag full of jams (lingonberry and cloudberry) and biscuits.

I do hope Pirates is still on in the States the first week we´re there. I don´t care to see it dubbed in Spanish.

I'm an absolute sucker for fairy lights, and these were reduced, so I couldn't resist.
