Doorknob replaced!

Mar 18, 2009 12:31

You may notice that just above and just below the knobs are holes which were previously covered. I want to fill them with some sort of compound, but don't really have any idea of what to buy. I'd obviously just need a small amount. Thoughts?

Milliput is quite fun to work with. It's a two-part epoxy putty.

I don't know what you could put in the holes, but if you take a paint chip into Home Depot, they will match the paint color for you and make you a new can of paint. I took in a sliver of our barn roof (which was red) and they matched the paint exactly.

Completely random since you and I aren't friends (though we've both been on here for years), but...

You can fill the holes mostly with caulk (cutting the hole in the tip of the caulk tube smaller will give you more control over the placement of it), let that dry and then fill the rest of the hole with wood putty and let that dry. You can then sand it and paint over it and no one will know the difference. As for the paint, you can take a chip (make sure it's about an inch square if you can- that's about the size they need to get a really good match) to Home Depot or Lowe's and they can color shoot it and mix it for you.
