I found the t-kingdom 801 to work pretty well while not impacting too much on breathing.
The con is that if you use it for a couple days without washing it it starts losing effectiveness until it is washed and dried again (I am not talking about a full week of course, I am talking about 2-3 days).

Of course it doesn't give the same results a tri-top would give, but I doubt it is possible to achieve that without restricting your breath :/

Seconding this. And since it's zippered, if you need to you can slip away somewhere private and unzip it to give your chest a break for a minute or two.

Thanks guys - that sounds brilliant. I honestly don't mind if it loses effectiveness without being washed, as I can always swap it over for the tri top while it's being washed and dried. It's just the constant (effective, yet restrictive) binding provided by the tri-top that's giving me health problems.

I'll check it out now!

Along the same lines as a zip-up binder, you might want to look into a velcro one so you can adjust how tight it is based on how you feel: http://www.lesloveboat.com/shop/index.php?cPath=78. I have the Wide Coverage Short Binder and find it less constricting than the Tri Top because it's made of a non-stretchy material. YMMV, but I also find that it's more effective in terms of flattening, whether I've washed it recently or not.

I'm a bit dubious about getting a velcro one as I hear that the ridge of the velcro strap is very easily seen through clothing.... Thank you for the suggestion, though!

I actually mentioned this in my review of the binder I got there, but the velcro on the side cannot be seen through clothes (for me at least), nor had I heard that rumor before getting mine.

Oh, well, I actually got this off a review here but it's not the same binder model, it just also works by velcro. Um, do you know if there are any pictures on the internet of what the binder looks like under clothing?

I have a medium of the Underworks "cotton concealer compression muscle shirt" and it binds way less tightly than my double front. It's still enough, though I wouldn't wear a tight shirt with it. It would DEFINITELY be enough under a hoodie/buttonup shirt/slightly baggier tshirt. I never have breathing problems with the double front, but I don't even get soreness with the cotton one, no matter how long I wear it. That might be worth looking into.
