So...I set up a consultation with Dr. Brownstein on Thursday the 26th just to go in and chat about procedures, costs, payment options etc

I had surgery in 12/08 so prices may be dated. Total cost then for surgery center, anesthesia, surgery, etc was $7900 USD + travel expenses.

I had no problems, am happy with my chest, slight dog ears that disappear when I lose weight, and even have nipple sensation.

2. I had double mastectomy with Brownstein in 2003 at $7500 for all related fees. I was happy with his competency as a surgeon and follow-up care.

3. I'd recommend checking out Transbucket (37 Brownstein patients) and the FTMSurgeryInfo YahooGroup (223 photos in the Brownstein folder) to get a sense of what his results are like at various stages of recovery.

FWIW, it's actually fairly common for guys to also share results they are not happy with. Many folks have a desire to warn other guys about potential negative outcomes and discuss ways to reduce chance of unwanted results. Some guys, like myself, just appreciate stark honestly :-) For me, my chest scaring is fairly intense. That's not on Brownstein -- other scars on my body are also quite noticeable, but it does make me self conscious about my chest sometimes. But i post my results anyhow because it seems useful for guys to see what it looks like when scars *don't* fade after several years.

Yeah I had mine done Jan 2010 I've heard his fee varies as I met a guy who had it done a little cheaper then me 3 days prior to mine.
Results were good I had nothing in my drains, I only had to drain them once and that was in the first 7hrs. As dogboi mentioned I feel really uneasy about my scars so i never show my chest, however I would NEVER go back to how it was.

He and his staff are great. Good luck man.

I had surgery with him in '06 and it cost me $7500. I opted for DI even though I was a small B, because he told me he could assure me great results that wouldn't need revision if I opted for DI. He couldn't tell me I wouldn't need a revision if I chose peri. I couldn't afford the surgery center fees or the anesthesiologist fees for a revision, so I chose DI and I am still thrilled to this day. I have tattooed my entire chest down to my abdomen, and no one who doesn't know about my trans status (very few people) has any idea I've had surgery. I can not recommend him enough.
