My roommate Eira is a trans woman. We get into conversations about trans stuff and often end up remembering things about our individual pasts that relate back to me being a guy or her being a chick ( Read more... )

I have experienced this. As a child I had to remind myself not to doubleover when I got kicked
or a ball was thrown. Now I just let myself do it. Not sure why but I just feel better. I have

Huh, I had the same thing happen in middle school - and after reacting that way, earned the nickname "boy-girl." I couldn't understand why it was strange to respond that way. But the girls in gym class sure did and wouldn't let me forget it.

Oh god it's softball all over again, and them balls weren't soft. No I always had the same reaction here too of grabbing the crotch and doubling over.

Ha, I totally never experienced that. I can't really recall an instance when I've been kicked in the groin, so if it did happen, it couldn't have been very traumatic. That having been said, I'm glad you found something validating in experience. It's always nice when that happens.

I've never experienced it either, and in fact it's been a cause of concern for me in living my life as "stealth." I work in a really small, cramped environment where a lot of action is always happening, and, y'know, accidents happen. But I've always felt such a huge disconnect with the lower half of my body, sometimes I don't even notice if someone brushes up down there. I'm legitimately concerned that it might be my swan song some day that I accidentally get hit down there and I don't even wince.

It's actually the only reason I would consider wearing a packer, just so that I could feel if someone gets up in my business down there.

I don't think it would necessarily 'out' you... I've seen cisguys take a kickball to the groin without batting an eye on rare occasion. If someone gave you crap about it you could just say it hit your leg more than your balls.

That's a good idea. I know it probably wouldn't be a huge deal but it's just one of those things, y'know? One time I accidentally commiserated with a co-worker about menstrual cramps; I had to make like I knew because of my sisters. So I have faced worse, I guess.

I played sports throughout my entire school career, and I definitely felt the need to protect my goods, and doubled over and winced when I got a soccer ball, foot, or what have you in the groin.
