That sounds a lot like me, can I add you? Also, from your profile and stuff, you seem really cool :). Um, well I live in California, and filed my name change here. I think you should do it in what ever city you live in at the time.

Well thanks, sure you can add me :)
I'll probably just get it done wherever's most convenient at the time; I just wasn't sure if there were certain "show us you actually live here" requirements because that's going to get really confusing in the next few months.

you change your name in your state of residence (legally).
you do not need a letter from therapist, put "changing to more commonly used name" or similar.
depends on the school for campus therapists, but i know there's people in seattle, apparently there's a center there or something, maybe you can google it.
im moving to washington this summer as well, and i just clicked your info page and see you're a fellow vegan and such, mind if i add you?

Do your name change in WA if possible. It's hella easy and cheap, I didn't have a single problem and it was just so damn easy... I think it ran me about $95 total in Thurston County, for filing fees and to get a couple extra copies of the final papers. Didn't have a therapist's letter, I just went to the court and filled out some paperwork (they want to know why you want to change your name, I was honest and said I was trans... not like they're gonna read it aloud in court), got a court date for three weeks later, almost arrived late (court parking sucks ass, give yourself plenty of time to park), and the judge pleasantly asked me a couple of questions while he signed the paperwork. Then the court office printed and notarized my name change papers and that was that ( ... )
