What do you consider a "classic movie"?

Definitions or examples, whatever you feel comfortable with.

Dirty Dancing, Ivanhoe (with Anthony Andrews), Charlie Chaplin, My Fair Lady, Sound of Music, Star Wars - return of the Jedi, and most well made and reasonably popular things before 1970 or so.

I'd say anything that has 1) influenced other films, 2) made an impact on popular culture (for better or worse), and 3) has sufficiently stood the test of time, not having been forgotten in the last 20-plus years.
