The problem with trying to tell this is the fact that some of it is TMI, and some of it is personal to other people, and some of it is just plain downer, and I don't know how you'll receive it. And we have to start in the middle.

I think we as a society put too much weight on outwards status markers like money or cool careers to determine who is successful and who isn't. Perhaps true sucess is being able to love and be kind, or knowing oneself, or being able to see beauty in a flower or the way light falls across the room. People spend so much time hunting the obvious that they leave themselves behind.

That said, if going back to school would make you happy then go for it! Not because you will get an amazing career but because you get to do something you enjoy. Personally I find that my university studies have given me a lot of student loans that needs repaying and roughly the same salary as I'd have had without them - and this seems to be the norm nowadays.

Whatever happens I wish you good luck! I'll keep you and your family in my thoughts.
