I've been wondering the same thing about artificial stuff, and I think all the soy meats and stuff is the substitute. Shades of a certain sci-fi film.

I LOVE fish and I don't feel like I've had my chance to eat enough. I'm worried that I should make an effort to eat it before it is all too toxic and gone. I do assume that I will only reminisce about sashimi lust in the future.

I also listen to a lot of NPR, though they sometimes get on my nerves with shoving political slants down my throat (agenda), the majority of the programming and variety is great.

A few years back I had heard--also on NPR--that some scientists were working on synthetic protein meatlike substances that weren't soybean-based. Didn't come from any macrobiological lifeform. Dunno if it was microbe culture or something different. *shrug*

Well ideally we'd be able to simply re-arrange atoms like on Star Trek. :P
