Yeah, I'm the same. I like the Beatles, but I can't view them as like the world's first boy band or get bonzo over them. I respect the history, but I know the history, I know what happened, I know how they treated one another, the complications and injustices, and how John died. It's a sad story, it's important to know that full story too. I wish I saw more of that respect.

Buddy Holly & The Crickets was the first "boy band", as far as I can tell. ;)

Back in 1980 there was a TV movie called Birth of the Beatles which was about their days in Liverpool and Hamburg before, and the changes when, Brian Epstein "discovered" them. Well worth seeing in my opinion.
