I *do* (as a former medical professional) understand the 'largest genetic distribution' concept, but there's still a huge misogynistic element in many cultural models. (and yes, as my anthropologist hubby points out, there are a number of indigenous cultures that follow the (one male) + (many females) where the breeding is controlled/mandated by matriarchy)
