1) I was born in Erie, Pennsylvania. I used to claim Wesleyville as a birthplace only because it sounded swanky.
2) I was born the day Walt Disney died.
3) I am the middle child of three.
4) My father's parents divorced and re-married, so that made me very confused about the way things were in his family for many years. I still don't feel like I understand enough about where he came from...and therefore, where I come from.
5) The Monkees had the number 1 pop chart single the week of my birth, "I'm a Believer".
6) I didn't graduate high school, but got my G.E.D. by aceing the test about a month after flunking Senior Year.
7) One of the reasons I flunked high school was the fact that the school board had me investigated as a possible drug user or security risk. I got my papers from them upon turning age 18 and destroyed them because there was too much painful information in them.
8) When the Pittsburgh Press had an article about a schoolkid who had a habit of checking out World War Two history books from the library, all my classmate friends assumed the writer of the article was talking about me.
