Not because I was tagged, but because I'm thinking about it: 20 Facts About Me
1) I was born in Erie, Pennsylvania. I used to claim Wesleyville as a birthplace only because it sounded swanky.
2) I was born the day Walt Disney died.
3) I am the middle child of three.
4) My father's parents divorced and re-married, so that made me very confused about the way things were in his family for many years. I still don't feel like I understand enough about where he came from...and therefore, where I come from.
5) The Monkees had the number 1 pop chart single the week of my birth, "I'm a Believer".
6) I didn't graduate high school, but got my G.E.D. by aceing the test about a month after flunking Senior Year.
7) One of the reasons I flunked high school was the fact that the school board had me investigated as a possible drug user or security risk. I got my papers from them upon turning age 18 and destroyed them because there was too much painful information in them.
8) When the Pittsburgh Press had an article about a schoolkid who had a habit of checking out World War Two history books from the library, all my classmate friends assumed the writer of the article was talking about me.
9) I made the front page of a newspaper for my at-the-time habit of fishing helium balloons down from high ceilings, a technique I learned at a county fair. I haven't done it in a long time, tho'.
10) I've been a computer user since the Tandy Radio Shack TRS-80 Model 3 appeared in the middle 1980s.
11) As a student pilot, I logged flights in nineteen specific aircraft, all but two of them Cessna 152s. The other two were Piper Tomahawks.
12) Last movie I saw in the theater was Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. The first movie I saw in a theater was probably Return of the Pink Panther.
13) I know two childhood friends who are also bloggers.
14) My mother is also a blogger.
15) My father, who was a Marine stationed in Washington DC when it happened, saw John F. Kennedy's Presidential Inauguration Speech in person.
16) I was in an English Composition class in college when the Challenger space shuttle accident happened in 1986.
17) The earliest manned space program I remember was Skylab. I was too young to remember any of the Apollo moonwalks.
18) The earliest terrorist incident I remember was the Palestinian kidnapping and murder of the Israeli athletes at the Munich Olympic Games.
19) I share a common ancestry with both Ambrose Bierce and the Bush family (yes, George, W, Jeb and those rotten daughters of W's).
20) A character with my name was in an episode of Miami Vice, one of the drinking buddies of the character played by race car driver Danny Sullivan.
