Today in class i learn why pus is green... isn't that swell... oh i also know why werewolf's are hairy... and that post-menopausal women should not take iron supplements... so i guess all in all these are good things ( Read more... )

so i actually want to know... why no iron after menopause? and why is pus green?

(did dr. seuss write a book about why pus is green? if not, dr. seuss missed the boat!)

pus is green because when neutrophils are stimulated they have an enzyme myeloperoxidase which oxidizes chloride ion to produce hypochlorite this enzyme is green thus the color of pus.

no iron in menopause because it creates free radicals with hydrogen peroxides and that acclerates aging and CVD
