jin/hyeri - sleeping aid

It's late night and Jin finds himself awake for the third night in a row. He assumes it's just the result of too much coffee in the morning and four hour naps during the day, but he knows that he would have been up even without the help of caffeine. It doesn't matter to him, though. He's awake and although he knows that his girlfriend would probably dislike the fact that he was going to fall asleep soon enough and wake up much too late, he doesn't try and force himself to fall asleep. And that's how he is. Tired, rebellious, and sad.

Though... Jin doesn't exactly know why he's sad. Maybe it's that sleeping late resulted in him waking up late, which meant that he would miss Hyeri get up and leave for work or... whatever it was she did. And he most definitely doesn't enjoy the fact that time spent with his girlfriend was limited to mornings and nights.

Jin thinks that maybe he should try and find the sleeping pills but when he tries to push himself up off the bed, a figure scoots closer to him, groaning quietly. "Jin? You're still up?" Hyeri mumbles and Jin brings up a hand to stroke her hair. He shushes her and whispers "I love you" into her ear as she scoots closer to him.

The room is cold but he feels warm with Hyeri's back against him. And that's when he realizes that maybe he doesn't need pills to fall asleep. His arms find their way around Hyeri and her snores are soft. He breathes against her neck and closes his eyes. And he falls asleep holding her.

eyoung/ara - storm

4AM and they should be fast asleep, but they're in bed, thinking more than talking. Eyoung has her arms around Ara, tight and comforting- to make sure that nothing hurts Ara tonight. They're whispering to each other, exchanging kisses, and chuckling softly, trying to keep quiet.

But it feels like everything stops when Ara's voice comes up and it feels serious and Eyoung physically feels cold.

"If this is actually how you feel, why are you still with me?" Eyoung jokes and she hides her face in Ara's neck. She's met with silence and it looks as though Ara is fast asleep.

The next morning, Eyoung learns that Ara isn't joking. Feelings come and go, she thinks, yet completely disagrees. Her chest aches and she thinks that maybe, just maybe, there's something she can do to fix it. She doesn't realize that she's shaking, trying to put the wrong pieces back together.

They decide to talk. Talk about life, talk about their home, talk about themselves. 'It's okay' is what Eyoung is telling herself over and over and "It's over," is what Ara is repeating out loud.

Ara leaves.

Eyoung waits for her.

Eyoung waits. And she waits. And she waits until the logical side of her brain convinces herself that Ara isn't coming back tonight. She may not be coming back ever, and it hurts.

The physical pain in her chest is too unbearable and she's shaking when she tries to take painkillers, praying for the pain to go away. And she feels empty. Her arms are empty and she falls asleep on the couch that night.

She wakes up and her arms are still empty and she's cold and last night isn't a dream like she had hoped. She laughs bitterly and decides to skip breakfast. Her motivation is gone and the need for energy had gone with her.

Eyoung feels a hole inside of her and as each day passes by without a word from Ara, she digs the hole deeper. By the time the storm passes, she's unable to climb out of the hole.

She doesn't mind. She's grown accustom to the silence. The emptiness. The pain.

And when Eyoung sees Ara for the first time, her heart stops and there's nothing she can do to stop Ara from leaving her trapped in the hole again.

And all she wants is to be okay. "Eventually" isn't enough.
