Hello! Long time lurker. Love reading your entries. I'd be interested in everything you've mentioned above, travel tips especially. I travel a fair bit, but it's hard finding practical information about different places and getting from Point A to Point B, so that would be fantastic information to have. The Antarctic stuff is always a buzz too.

I'm interested in hearing about your perspective on group dynamics in Antartica - how everyone socializes together. Are there cliches? Are there groups of scientists versus technical staff versus professional staff versus adminstration versus service staff versus the corporation versus the US Govt. etc etc etc. Not exactly hierarchy, but more about how people live with eachother in a restricted space.

I've always wondered how quickly you adapt to calling new places 'home' and which places you've visited that you feel have the possibility of being a home to you, or ones that you know are great to visit but could never be anything more.

Also, what's the pull for Antarctica? I'm guessing it's a bit like Edinburgh (but with less lardy food) and just gets under your skin.

Of course, I'm also interested in general travel musings - where do you have left to visit? Where are you hoping to revisit and why? Where do you never wish to see again?

Lastly, poisonous creatures of doom aside, I am rather envious about your recent trip to Australia, it's been almost 12 years since I've been back and I figure I'm well overdue.

Once I started reading your journal when you were highlighted by LJ but I've stayed with it because you're an interesting journal to follow. That being said, typically I find stream of consciousness posts fascinating- and it's generally what I do when I feel the urge to post and don't know what to say. I also try to make posts about my thoughts on books I've read- I keep track of the books I've read, quantity-wise, and while it's not necessarily a review but sometimes a stray remark will make another pick up a book they'd never have thought of. So there you go!

I'm easy pleased really... I've always enjoyed reading whatever you write, whether you are travelling or not. So more of the same will be fine. I especially like when you write about how your travels impact on the rest of your life.
