I kind of have to agree -- there are kids all *over* the world who spend college totally hell and gone from their families, and they get by just fine. Well, most of them do. Dawn has her good points, but it's time for both her and Buffy to cut the apron strings already...
On that note -- excellent stuff and looking forward to the next five chapters!
(if it helps, I'm equally critical of Angel (for being him), Giles (for splitting when it was quite obvious the kids 'aren't all right' -- to quote a song) and Willow (for bumming @ Buffy's in S5 and S6 -- get a job and help out, Red!).
Wow. I think there's an Offspring song for each of those scenarios...song fic? :)
However, it is just her and Buffy. I don't think Buffy would have a problem with Dawn living out of home...but, it's a bit different when it's a different country.
And trust me...I have issues with all of them at some points during the show. *LOL*
If Dawn had been my kid in S5, it would have been some serious smack-down time. I would have re-defined "grounded" after her little Halloween party. And if that hadn't stopped her from pulling the rest of her ridiculous stunts...those were some pretty seriously face-palm episodes. So there you have it -- a nutshell of my issues with Dawn.
There's a piece of me that wonders if part of the show's charm is that you get irritated with the characters like you do, though...
Wonderful Writing! Love how Dawn is just making something up and guesses right, and Buffy and Giles reactions to it. Can't wait to read more. Thanks for sharing.
