I wanted to like it but I didn't really :|

This movie just left me thinking what the ever loving fuck? way too often XD I think I probably missed something, and was left with a lot of questions. So I actually read a couple of reviews and everyone else seemed to love the movie, hm XD ( ... )

PS: I did think this was the best "Road!trip" theme this far! :D I don't know, I really had this road-tripy kind of feeling with this movie.

I liked the movie, but I could totally see why other people wouldn't. Especially since it's vague and weird and slow and not much happens. Besides the sex. Hahahaa, Aline, you didn't appreciate the sex? BUT THEY ARE HOT SO WHY WOULDN'T THEY BE HAVING SEX CONSTANTLY? XD No, but you're right: it is weird when you think about it. When I watched it, it wasn't something that really made me go UMWOT? Except for one time. IMO the whole thing with the girl at the gas station giving a coffee and then getting in the back of a van and going "Oh! There's a matrass = let's have sex!" just made me go O.0 The whole thing with the lady in the mountains didn't even seem that weird to me afterwards (I don't know what that says about me ( ... )

Epic song HERE

It's funny you'd say that because I usually really like vague and slow movies IDEK XDD (I'm a big fan of Elephant for example!)

My biggest turn off really was the unrealistic frequency they kept getting laid, (am I ill or something? XD) It's a stupid thing to focus on (I know D:) because there were a lot of other beautiful parts in the movie. I liked the way Quentin (I think? XD) held on to Antoine's shirt, I thought the scene in the bathroom stall was really heart breaking and just beautiful in a way. I thought the ending was really good too. I was a bit surprised that the movie only lasted about an hour, which is a bit short imo XDD

ALSO: Bonnie and Clyde was on tv today! :))

I liked how the brothers' relationship was portrayed as this complicated and messy mix of hate and love. I don't know whether it's because I read some things beforehand about this movie, but I think there was definitely an incestuous vibe ... and IDK I was fascinated! XD I just think it's interesting to see (or read about) the dynamics between siblings, especially when they become so extreme.

Can you point me towards any other noteworthy movies, books or fics (any fandom) that deal with a similar theme?

The only thing I can think of is The Dreamers. I have asked you about this movie before, but I forgot if you saw it already or not. Either way I really really really recommend it.

It's got
01 Michael Pitt (who is sexy and adorable and awkward and THE BEST THING IN THE WORLD. AND NAKED IN THIS MOVIE. I'm talking full frontal nudity.)
02 Sexy twins (Eva Green and Louis Garrel)
03 Lots and lots of bits from old movies and old songs and just ♥ it's a movie about movie-lovers, how can that not be awesome?
04 a very very NC17 sex scene

I have seen that one! :D It was a movie I had always sort of avoided, but I watched it last year (when I was trying to watch as many Louis Garrel movies as possible) and it is really good indeed. Kind of epic even. And the bits about the old movies etc. were really awesome, yeah. If you mean by the very very NC17 sex scene the sex on the kitchen floor THEN THAT ONE IS BURNT INTO MY BRAIN XD

haha awkward anecdote time.

So there was this time I didn't know how to download movies etc. so it was hard for me to get movies from my favorite actors who aren't so popular (like Michael Pitt.) The Dreamers wasn't that popular in Belgium and I COULDN'T FIND IT ANYWHERE. But my uncle knew this guy who copied movies and you could buy them for a low price and so I asked him for the Dreamers.

Now apparently the guy watched the movie first, then told my uncle about it who was all o__O when he gave it to me. I didn't know what the hell he was talking about - until I saw that scene of course XDDD

And now my family knows just what kind of a perv I am :DD

The movie was very abrupt in a lot of places... not necessary a bad thing but it was weird for the story-telling.
It really was! In most cases this didn't bother me (although it did leave me wondering a couple of times) but the ending definitely was very abrupt.

Their relationship is pretty fucked up isn't it?
OMG YES! So, so fucked up. "Selling" your brother like that! :O
