I particularly like the assertion that the cure for AIDS could come out of the Gowanus Canal.

An abandoned section of one of those limestone quarries that makes up SubTropolis features prominently in my 8-bit cyberpunk novel. I've wandered around in some of them. Found a giant cave millipede once and discovered that if you piss them off enough they envenom you with cyanide. It really hurts!
