The Contradiction of the Fandom

Nov 28, 2010 09:46

You know, of the past years that I've been in the furry fandom I have heard and read more and more gossip and info of so many subjects that it strengthens that very title.  I'm sure that you've all read blazger's journal and the responses are good and valid too.  But I'm not going to focus on just that.  It's towards everything else as well.  Take the ( Read more... )

Just using that as an example really. I understand if push came to shove then they have no choice. So I'm not talking about the admins on FA unless they take actions without warning the artist. But it doesn't mean that the other furs are allowed to kick them while they're down. You won't believe the tweets, comments, and journals saying "Praise Neer" and "About fucking time." When the rule came about.

Another perfect example is us. Months ago we've proved time and time again that the rumors are false. Most furs in the beginning judged blaze too quickly and turned their backs on him in an instant.

There are a couple more examples like these too. So it makes me wonder why furs like them joined a tolerant group when they can't handle certain furs and subjects while going great lengths to make them suffer.

Rules are given for a reason. And I can totally understand that. But actions like these that conflicts the meaning of what the fandom means to me, I can't simply look and pretend like they've never happened.

People claim to be open-minded as long as the opinions match theirs. Most people are just hypocrits frankly.

My philosophy is "very" simple: If it's not harming someone "else" (even harming 'yourself' is your own choice)- to each their own. Which INCLUDES fantasy of a real action that could be considered harmful if done RL.

I can understand at that aspect. If it's possible to do such a real action fantasy-wise, then it's more likely to be done in real life. But is it right to quickly ridicule a person for the ideas of their character doing such acts knowing full well that it will ruin them if done in reality?

It seems that when someone sees a pic of art of such they instantly think that person has done that for real or has thoughts or plans of doing it to an actual person as if it were a hobby. Now if word got out with actual reports of a fur doing those actions for real, (Ex: The furry panda and underage fur deal both in PA a few years back) then they can fell free to bad mouth them till the trolls come home.

All in all, there's always has to be some type of flaw to one's ideals most of the time. I only wish that everyone can understand to respect fellow furs regardless of what ideas, hobbies, fetishes, or whatever they believe in without bashing them or ruining their reputation.

That's pretty much why I think like I do. Whether I like it or not, everyone should be free to do/like/enjoy whatever they want when it won't harm anyone, "especially" in fantasy where it "can't" harm anyone. There's plenty of fetishes and likes and such out there I don't necessary like, hell a few even creep me out. BUT, they aren't hurting me or anyone just by liking those things. So unless they're trying to be forceful in putting those kinds of things in my face (which "is" then hurting someone because you're invading their personal space), there's zero reason for me to think wrong of anyone for it ( ... )
