I saw the Broadway version back in 1988. That show has one hell of a body count.

No, no, no. It being a musical is not a problem at all. The 1998 movie was a complete waste of time. Not to mention forgettable. If you are going to do it, do it right! And what makes it right? What makes the story unforgettable? Oh yes, the musical numbers!

This version was done properly. It was exactly what I wanted and so much more.

I'm ok. And you?
Happy New Year.

If they make a film I think it should be of the novel, not the musical.

Well, they already did that so now it's the musical's turn. And the musical is better.

We are very different people.

No truer words have ever been typed.

That would be bloody annoying.
Not in my world.

People would be more likely to spontaneously murder each other.

The novel is considered one of the greats of French literature.
Which is why it was fitting to turn it into a musical. Anything with that much drama makes for a good musical.

Think about it, a lot of people detest musicals. If people on the street started breaking into song, some of the musical-haters would likely take it into their own hands to forcibly silence the singers. Hence more deaths.

No.
It would allow them to really say what was on their mind with out any self-conciousness. Let go of insecurities. No passive-aggressive BS.

Music is part of our DNA. Since the beginning of civilization humans made musical instruments and used song to tell stories and express true feelings.
WIthout music our souls die.

Oh yea, save it for the live version :)
He has a nice voice.

I hear they are supposed to open it again on Broadway. I'll be going :)

They're probably targeting more of the casual fans, or people who may not be musical fans now but might become NEW fans, or people who just don't live in a place where seeing it live is an option, etc.
That just might be it. But I do have one friend who is a Les Mis purist and despite the changes they made, she loved it. So, you never know, it could surprise you.
