Yeah, I know it works as meaning he joined while alive, but the first time I read him say it I got this chill and it became instant headcanon to me. v_v I do realize it doesn't make much sense though, daaaamn - and yeah, especially in regards to Kariya. I hadn't thought about that. v_v

Well, yeah, I know that. I'm not sure what would have happened if Joshua had waited though instead of just shooting. Neku's confused then, a little taunt probably would have worked the trick.

I think it works both ways - kill the Composer, get the job, or work your way up to Composer and be promoted to the job. But you have to look at it from the point of just how powerful Joshua is. He literally can warp Shibuya to suit his needs or can wipe it off the map. Anything that is done to him is because he allows it to happen. So the idea of killing the Composer to get his job means either being allowed to have a shot at the Composer (such as Joshua gave Neku) or outsmart the Composer

I know I've said this a billion times already on this thread, but seriously, you guys. I love us.
So much intricate patterning and theories and occasional crack. It's just. . . amazing.

Seriously, though, from now on I am actually thinking Genius/Prodigy!Neku is canon. IT MAKES TOO MUCH SENSE TO NOT BE.
Also the fact that Joshua + UG = YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG. You know he totz became Composer in the most shady way ever. Then again, despite the fact that Joshua had kind of twisted the game, the souls that came out in the end were probably much, much better than ones that would come out in a normal game because he pushed them so far. Case and point - Neku. So you could say that it's a good thing that he's made it so goddamn hard.

TL;DR; Joshua is Neku's soulmate. Totz.

That's true. I'm not sure that was exactly Josh's ultimate intent, to produce even purer souls, but it's probably a byproduct that pleases/amuses him. I think he's probably into some shit with his superiors though, because I'm pretty strong on the theory that the living should be Off Limits and Josh totally broke that rule when he went to 'fetch' Neku.

Which brings me into what it means to be the Composer and what Shibuya is. Shibuya is just one ward (of 23) of Tokyo. So what Joshua means by destroying it it's not like he's saying he wants to blow up the world. I think it literally means that Shibuya would fade out of existence as if it never was. Both the RG and the UG version. I don't think he means that he's going to kill people because as theorized above, I don't think it's within the rules for him to touch anyone that is alive. His business is the souls of the dead, not the living. (and since Shibuya is just one out of twenty-three, one wonders if the other 22 wards don't have their own running Games with Composers. Or if Games
