Just a little tip. If you ever decide to rent a house, making sure the house's F**KING PHONE LINES ARE WORKING, is pretty important. I'll continue to be an almost non-entity on the net until further notice.
I hope you can get this settled soon. The ubiquity of cell phones has made landlines neglectable, and you're getting the downside of it. I know several families who don't have a home phone.

I don't know how Kemper got his name ... we're his fourth owners. The original ones abused him, then he was rescued by a family who had to give him up because their other dogs developed serious medical problems, then a young lady with a small apartment took him in to keep him from the shelter but that didn't work too well. We knew her parents from church, and they asked us if we could take him in. Our other dog really needed a companion, so it all worked out well.
