If you don't mind, I would like to hear about the holidays you celebrate in different worlds, or even different places in the same world.

[this is inspired by a conversation she had with Storm the other day]

In Imil, it is traditional to do something for the longest night of the winter. It is not a large celebration - Imil is, I have learned, a small ( Read more... )

I think Riku pretty much summed it all up. [Yes she can see that response there.] He's missing Valentine's Day, but that's not for another few months.

Also? Santa's real. Riku's just a spoilsport.

And what is Valentine's Day?

In my home we don't give many gifts. We certainly don't have a holiday to do it in.

Valentine's Day is something that happens every February. It's really supposed to be a holiday all about love, but it covers all kinds of love. Romance, friendships, family, everything. People spend the day with their loved ones and they usually exchange cards and candy and things.

It's not a bad tradition. What do you give gifts for then?

[A day to celebrate love sounds just a little unusual...but most of all it sounds wonderful.]

It seems like most holidays so far are about spending time with the people you love.

We give gifts if someone has a child, and on the longest day of the year.

[ McCoy's sitting in the battledome clinic because sometimes, there just isn’t that much to do, except relay instructions to certain patients who prefer house rest than recovering in this glorious place. ]

[As usual, Mia comes in with a smile on her face. There isn't anything in particular she came to do, either.]

Good afternoon, Doctor McCoy. How are you?

[ McCoy actually cracks a smile when he hears Mia come into the clinic and he looks up from his book and raises his hand in greeting. ]

Hey, kid. [ he snaps the book shut and leans back in his chair. ] I thought you'd be outside enjoying the rest of the day, not staying cooped up in here.

I like to be busy.

[In Luceti it is possible to get cabin fever while spending your entire day outside. Who knew?]

Besides, I don't mind. I can always learn something new.

[Since Mia clearly isn't very busy as she enjoys her lunch in the plaza, Caesar waves when he sees her, and decides to come over and greet her.]

Hey. Enjoying yourself?

Oh, hello, Caesar. [a friendly smile] Yes, I am. You may join me if you wish.

Only if I'm not interrupting anything.

[Of course, he says this just as he sits down beside her, which might just mean he was going to do it either way.]

Of course you are not interrupting. Why else would I offer?

Did anyone tell you about Valentine's Day? Or were you here to experience that in Luceti?

Kairi mentioned it. I have only been here for four and a half months.

Typically it's the holiday of love and romance. It happens in February. Sort of late winter.
