So, we've been really excited to eventually play some rock band online so we could challenge other bands, but as we found out last night, you can only challenge people online singly. poo. it's still one of the most fun games i've ever played, i think, though

so I'm debating between rock band and guitar hero 3 for George for Xmas. we have none of the series, whatsoever. which do you reccomend?

Rock band is it's most fun when you have 4 people to play it together. Also, it only comes with one guitar (plus the mic and drum set), which is prone to failure.
GH2 and GH3 are two players max and each come with a guitar.

So, I guess which would be better for you two would be based on whether you are going to be playing it together, whether you have more people to play it with and whether you want to be playing with multiple instruments.

Also, I'd suggest checking the song lists for them on wikipedia to help with the decision making.

What she said :) if George only wants to play guitar, you probably want to go with guitar hero. If you are both going to play, and want to try your hand at drumming (which, incidentally, is quite difficult) or singing then rock band is the better choice. Also, like burning purple said, if you've got a bunch of other people that want to play, rock band is much more of a party game. Checking the song listing is also a solid recommendation. gl!
