Fandoms: Once Upon a Time, Teen Wolf, The Lord of the Rings, Masters of Sex, Zankyou no Terror, Alphas, Fringe, Misfits, Sense8
For those who missed the first post, this project is basically us three making icons of semi-randomly assigned characters from different fandoms. After each set, you get to vote which 3 (or more, in case of ties) of the characters move on to the next set, and which will be replaced by new random characters.
First of all HUGE THANKS to everyone who voted last time! :D We didn't think anyone would care about our little project so it was so sweet and awesome to get all those votes for different characters, and we hope to see that again of course! Secondly - WE HAVE A NEW MAKER IN THIS PROJECT, the always amazing shameless666! Thanks so much for joining us!! :)
The icons
Our characters for the second set were:
Moving on:
Emma Swan (Once Upon a Time) Stiles Stilinski (Teen Wolf) Aragorn (Lord of the Rings)
New random characters:
Virginia Johnson (Masters of Sex) Nine (Zankyou no Terror) Gary Bell (Alphas) Olivia Dunham (Fringe) Derek Hale (Teen Wolf) Simon Bellamy (Misfits) Wolfgang Bogdanow (Sense8)
Which characters would you like to see in the next set? You can vote for as many as you like, but only 3 will move on (unless there are ties). The voting will last for 3 days, it is open until wednesday 9.12. 20:00 UTC. Please note that you're voting for characters, NOT icons, so you're just voting for characters you like, and not characters whose icons you liked the most!

Episode discussion
We also watched one episode of each of the shows these characters are from; if anyone is interested in our opinions or discussing the episodes/shows, you can read our thoughts behind the spoiler cut, and tell us your own thoughts in the comments - we'd love to discuss these fandoms :) This was just a bit of extra fun though, and we didn't have to icon that specific episode. shameless666 didn't participate in this so it's just thyla's thoughts and mine.
[episode thoughts]Once Upon a Time js (2.07 Child of the Moon): There was no new OUAT ep the week I wanted to make my icon for this so I continued my s2 rewatch which I started a while ago because I don't remember s2 so well (watched it while I was also watching Lost so I kinda skimmed through the eps while waiting for LOST's turn). s2 is probably my least favorite season, the eps just feel more boring somehow?? especially the first half with Emma and Regina in different worlds not interacting at all :c Anyway this was a crappy choice for an ep for this since it barely had any Emma. Actually it didn't have that much of anyone I care about, since Regina or Gold weren't heavily featured either. The plot itself was alright, I like how it dealt with Red's human side and wolf side coexisting and the final confrontation between Ruby, David and the crowd was pretty intense! I also loved the stuff about Henry & Aurora's shared dreams. Other than that, pretty meh. I had totally forgotten about King George... thyla (3.05 Good Form): I picked this episode cause I was most interested in the Peter Pan parts :D It was interesting how OUAT made him a bad guy, it was a different interpretation and has been fun to watch. The other lost boys were different from the fairytale and followed Pan in a twisted way. As for ships, I'd go for Regina/Emma and Hook/Charming. The guys are a bit less interesting but their quarrelling was fun and their relationship could even make the prince more interesting :D It was pretty interesting to see some of Hook's past in this episode, since I didn't know much about him earlier.
Teen Wolf js (5.02 Parasomnia): I watched 2 TW ep this time. For Stiles, I continued my s5 rewatch. Parasomnia wasn't great tbh, this lacked the sweet character moments of the season premiere, and there was SO MUCH THEO & TRACY. nobody cares about Tracy, or Theo for that matter. The 'is Theo trustworthy??' 'mystery' was the weakest plot ever since it was made entirely obvious from the start that no, he was not. Liam was great though, loved him teaming up with Stiles, and him falling into a hole was the best part :D less great was the introduction of yet another unnecessary character: Hayden. NOOOOOOO. Liam doesn't need a love interest he already has Scott ffs. That's like... half of what made s4 so great. And suddenly on s5 they hate each other and not in a fun foe yay kinda way either it's ALL ABOUT A GIRL asddssfffd yeah why don't you ruin all my favorite things, show. Fine, there were some nice things too - the actual best (most touching) moment was when Scott and Stiles argue about Theo, and Stiles hurts his hand and Scott heals him even though he's mad at him. It was very sweet and complex and shows just how awesome Scott is and how good their relationship is still at this point of the season. Malia was pretty great in this ep too, she's the funniest character. js (1.01 Wolf Moon): ...And then I watched the very first episode for Derek, since he's not on s5. I've already seen this at least twice so I watched it with behind the scenes commentary this time which was an interesting extra. As an episode this is a good introduction to the series, while a little basic. But basic isn't always bad. I liked Stiles' and Jackson's introductions especially, and I miss the fun, lighter times when the biggest problem was just Scott being a new werewolf. My one complaint about this ep is that the Scallison romance started way too fast. First ep and they're already on a date? ehh show me more of the secret pining/crushing if you want to make me invested in a ship! but their scene at the animal clinic was pretty cute :> thyla (Stiles -> 5.01 Creatures of the Night): The start with Lydia in the institute was intriguing. The darkness of s5 was already present in the first episode. There were funny scenes too, I'm glad the show hadn't completely forgotten about those, I liked the first scenes with Liam for example. I found it sweet how Stiles wanted the group to stick together after high school. I also liked the scene with everyone writing their names at the school and Scott wrote Allison's and Stiles looked at Derek's. But despite always being a sterek fan I also like Stalia, especially now that Derek is gone. I missed him in this episode a bit, but you never know maybe we'll see him again someday :D thyla (Derek-> 3.21 The Fox and the Wolf): This one was a bit different for a TW episode. It had a fairly dark atmosphere, reflecting the vibe of s3 well. I quite liked them showing Kira's mom's past and the episode showed how the monster was born so I'd say it was an important episode. Derek didn't have a big role here but I liked his story too. He worked with Allison's dad again, one of the surprising things about this season. Dark Stiles is really interesting and it has been interesting to watch that journey, new side for this character.
Lord of the Rings We didn't watch any of the movies because they're very long and we've seen them already, but feel free to discuss them too!
Masters of Sex js (1.01 Pilot): Honestly? I'm a bit too much of a prude for this :p but I did love the scientific angle, science focus makes everything better! and the two main characters and their interactions were pretty nice. I hear this is somewhat based on real actual history(?) so that + the period drama aspect are pretty interesting too, science circles of the past are definitely a cool subject. It's not a show I'm putting on my 'to finish' list atm but it wasn't as bad/porny as I thought it might be! :> thyla (1.01 Pilot): Basically what it says on the tin :D I wasn't feeling this, I wasn't into the plot at all and half of this was very dull to watch. I did like a few of the characters, Virgina and the doctor. Virginia seems very direct and independent for that time period and the doctor seems quite interesting too. I'm pretty sure they could form some sort of relationship. But like I stated, not really to my taste and I'm not interested in watching more.
Zankyou no Terror js (1. Falling): I found this very... odd, with an unsettling vibe. The main characters 9&12 seemed entirely unsympathetic, is this a villain protagonist series? Lisa was my favorite almost by default and I hated the situation she was put into :c :c Mostly I just found this creepy and weird, and much preferred Free! :p thyla (1. Falling): I still didn't become an anime fan yet, this was possibly even more confusing than Free!. What I did manage to get was that the main characters seemed a little evil and twisted and manipulated the sweet Lisa. The overall impression I got was that the show seems pretty chaotic but I liked the fact that the main characters seem evil, I hadn't seen that in an anime before, and the series seems pretty action-oriented.
Alphas js (1.01 Pilot): This was a really fun watch, I liked this pilot episode and all the different colorful characters! The pilot was pretty heavy on plot yet not too action-y for me. I liked Rachel the most - her difficulty to criticize Bill's behavior directly was an interesting, realistic and sweet character moment. I liked Gary and dr Lee too, and the basic concept of the show is pretty interesting if not super original. Reading the description of the show I got the impression it would be a crime show (one of my least fave genres) but with powers, but based on the pilot it didn't feel like a crime drama at all, more like fantasy/scifi which I dig! thyla (1.01 Pilot): New show for me, I had no idea what it would be about. I must say I liked the show and think I might continue watching. The characters seem interesting; Gary is my initial favorite. The idea of the show seems quite interesting (but I hope it won't resemble other superpower shows too much) and I'd like to see where the show goes, even though it seemed a bit predictable based on the vibe I got; I'm pretty sure nobody important will die and that things get resolved. Don't know why, I just got that feeling :D The powers the characters got were fun, Gary's especially was something new I hadn't seen before. Someone had mind control which has been done a lot but this time the character used her powers pretty selfishly so that's new and I liked it. I wouldn't mind at all watching more of this!
Fringe js (1.04 The Arrival): Fringe interests me a lot! I had seen a few episodes already and this was a great reason to watch the next one. Olivia, Peter and Walter are all pretty awesome characters and mostly I just really love the genre: all the love for atmospheric scifi mystery! All the weird science! yesss. Honestly this has been on my to watch list forever, I just haven't had the time. The plot of this episode was really freaking interesting, I'm particularly intrigued by the Observer and I love that not everything was explained in this episode. I like it when mysteries continue for a while! I mean, what WAS the cylinder? who/what is the observer? I love having questions! (Yep, the LOST fan in me is def showing here.) thyla (1.01 Pilot): I've meant to watch this for a long time, the start seemed pretty interesting. I liked Walter, Peter and Olivia, Walter maybe the most, his past was quite interesting and his science was too. There's clearly something paranormal in the show that wasn't explained yet and it would be interesting too see where that leads. I was sure agent Scott was a good guy and died a heroic death but I liked the twist of him being a bad guy. I was also sure Olivia would let him go but was surprised when she instantly started chasing him! Pretty interesting pilot episode, we'll see if I watch more.
Misfits js (1.02 Episode Two): Misfits is so much fun! I had already watched one episode randomly and was really happy to get to watch another one. This show doesn't take itself too seriously and I just love the dialogue and how different and weird the characters are, especially Simon and Nathan, but I really like the whole gang. The second episode was interesting and I like how it showed Nathan in a bit more sympathetic light, I liked his family drama a lot and the plot with the old lady raised some interesting questions that I'm not sure what to think about. I might watch the rest of Misfits at some point, it's one of the best new shows (for me) that have been randomized for this. thyla (1.01 Episode One): This was another show with people getting powers, but it was more comedy than anything. The way the teens got the powers was mostly just amusing and felt a little like lazy writing. But I liked that the powers seem to fit the characters: the shy Simon turning invisible when he feels invisible, and I think Kelly got mind reading because she cares about what people think of her? Alisha's power was just weird and funny but I guess it fits her too since she was so flirtatious but I have no idea how that power could ever be useful... Curtis' power seems definitely useful, and we'll see what Nathan develops. Nathan's character was pretty funny and different. Wouldn't like to be friends with him though ;D I also liked that the teens were youth criminals and not regular heroes.
Sense8 js (1.01 Limbic Resonance): WHOA ok why didn't anyone tell me about this show I just, wow, this was AWESOME. Again, I love scifi mystery fantasy stuff with interesting colorful characters which sure fits this show or at least the pilot. The cast seems awesome! I already love Riley and Nomi and maybe Wolfgang, and the concept is absolutely fascinating, it was so cool to see them sensing things from each others' lives. Really interesting stuff. Annnd, I loved how different the characters were, and that they were living in such different locations, it meant that there were lots of different sceneries and vibes and atmospheres to enjoy in this episode. Also, SAYID. Basically the entire episode was super captivating and I neeeeed to watch more, what a promising show! thyla (1.01 Limbic Resonance - 1.02 I Am Also a We): I had seen the first episode when it came out but didn't pay that much attention, now when I rewatched it more thoughtfully I fell for it. The idea is interesting and the two first episodes seem well made. The characters seem interesting (I liked Jonas the most, and also Nomi and Amanita, and Capheus seems sympathetic as well). We'll see where the show goes, I think I'll continue watching.
