IQ-wise, a surprising number of people know theirs, even though generally parents are told not to tell their children. I do not know mine, except that it is above 130 (which was required for the gifted program) and below 160 (which my mother qualifies as genius, and which generally brings with it social inadequacy).

Yay for shit summers and new friends (that's half a joke, of course).

Things like the CCC scare me; that ring tone bit is really painful; I liked the article, but here's the main question: why the fuck can't these kids just set their phones to vibrate?

I agree on the Life Aquatic; I think people like it because they expected to. And some of it is bizarrely wonderful, truth.

- Right. It wasn't revealed in my house for ages largely because some of us were gifted by the test, and a couple were gifted by proxy (i.e., by way of exceedingly high S.A.T. scores, which would also get you in). According to mater, social inadequacy begins at 150, and reaches what would basically be considered socially-incompatible behaviour by 170. She's thrilled, too; she would much rather we be able to eat in a restaurant without tearing off our clothing or otherwise making a scene than banging out amazing proofs.

- Oy vey, D.B., I'm not sure I get your humour, at all, so "Shhhh" in lieu of a total 'mute'. Parler pas de cette choses ici, même par des références indirectes amusants, monsieur, c'est un gros faux-pas, tsk.

- Because kids are fucking stupid. The tone in itself is idiotic...why would you care if anyone is calling if you can't even reply.

- Oseary Drakoulias. Anjelica Houston and he were about the only one's that kept the film afloat for me. And I liked Cate Blanchett's accent. Otherwise, eugh.

Hahahaha - come, come now, Ms. Kaplan, we're talking about someone who has been known to quote not even Napoleon, but the very Robespierre, in original French, in absolutely regular conversation. Considering that my icons have already had to do with the Spanish Civil War, the Soviet Union, East Germany, and a lovely spell devoted to early aviation...this really could only have been rationally expected.

Oh, and ehrm, VIVE LA REVOLUTION, CITOYENNE!
