Gabriel hadn't expected her home so soon, but when he turned and looked up at the clock he saw that it was exactly when she usually got back. He muttered under his breath, because time had just flown by so fast that he hadn't even realised it.
"I was just...I...I don't even have dinner ready," he muttered, mostly to himself as he got up from where he had been sitting, moving towards her before he knelt down in front of her, his eyes shimmering with tears, but he wasn't going to let them fall. He had a daughter, and he had to be strong for her.
"I...I have some bad news, sweetheart. We need to talk."
