heroes15 "Burn."

Living on a farm was something that Gabriel had never imagined to be something he would do. Of course, it was a modern, high tech farm, but a farm nonetheless. He’d been a city boy his whole life, and though he didn’t mind being on the edge of a forest for a few weeks during camp, he never ventured out more than that. Nature and him just didn’t go along, at least in his opinion, and therefore he found it best that they avoid each other. However; after Len had mentioned his fantasy of wanting to go back to Georgia with him, and Jim of course, he’d decided that he’d grin and bear it simply because he loved the other man so much.

He didn’t have to do as much as he had first expected; between Len doing the most of the work, and in turn putting Jim to work, he was left mostly to housework and the likes. Jim would playfully tease that Gabriel and Len were a married couple; Gabriel being the wife and Len the husband, and that he was the hand hired to help out on the farm; especially during calving season. Gabriel didn’t have the heart to tell them that there wasn’t a calving season since they didn’t have any cows, so he just laughed and went along with it. Mostly though he was just glad that the other went along with everything the way he did, and therefore he let him get away with teasing, because for once in his life he was being teased in a friendly way.

Honestly though, he didn’t mind being the wife in the relationship. Cleaning was something that he had very specific routines on, and he’d found throughout the years that it was a task best completed by himself rather than someone else; as generally when someone else tried to do it they would end up doing it wrong so he would have to redo it anyway. Jim seemed gleeful over this, and Len reluctant, but Gabriel told him that it was fine, and that he liked it, and always just waved a hand when either tried to help. Not that Jim often offered to help, but once in a while, and with much prompting from Len, he would offer.

It had been a hot day, the sun blazing, but still Len insisted on working outside on the tractor. Gabriel had managed to track down one that was from his time, John Deere and everything, and despite it being in horrible condition when he had first found it he had bought it as a birthday present for the other man. The smile that had lit up his face when Gabriel had dragged him to the barn to show him had proved to him that he was right in his choice, and he was quite sure that Len thought it to be one of his favourite received birthday gifts ever. However, it had still been in horrible condition when he’d given it to him; and the other had made it his project to get it up and working.

Being a good wife he brought out sweet tea for him regularly, and admired the work he was doing, the latter at least until Len had looked at him and asked him what exactly he had done, and Gabriel had had no idea what to say. He’d grumbled at him then, and Gabriel had stopped complimenting the completed work, at least until he could actually see what was done. He came out with ice tea perhaps more often than necessary in others eyes, but Len was, due to the heat, working without a shirt; and just being able to watch him work; the way his muscles flexed as he tightened screws or whatever he was doing made Gabriel’s stomach bubble. However, he never wanted to be caught staring, and therefore always had a glass in his hand.

Early in the way he’d worried that the other would need sunscreen richly applied to his entire body, but when Gabriel had suggested it, Len had shrugged it off; telling him to think about the last time they started the day with applying sunscreen, and it turned out that because of the application process that there would be no need for it at all. I’ll risk it, he’d said, and Gabriel had cooed about how he was so brave; which in turn earned him an eye roll and a shove, but that was what he’d been expecting. Because of this though he wasn’t going to even bother trying to hide the smirk on his face as he leaned against the bathroom’s doorframe, peering at his lover as he got out of the shower.

“You should have listened to me,” Gabriel told him, and he snickered just a bit when the other jumped.

“Good God, Gabriel! Don’t sneak up on me like that!” he exclaimed and grumbled, looking up at him and scowling, though Gabriel saw a flash of adoration in the look he gave him before it went to the scowl. “And what exactly are you talking about?”

Gabriel just continued smiling as he strolled over to him, looking him over and licking his lips; oogling without shame and for a moment it distracted him from his intention; though the others annoyed throat clearing brought him back to where he was and what he was supposed to be doing. “This,” he said simply and first pointed and the mirror before he gently pressed his hand against the skin on Len’s chest, and when he lifted it away again the print lingered in white before the skin went back to being red.

Len grunted at that and then looked up at with him with another annoyed look, though as he opened his mouth to say something; Gabriel quickly ducked down to kiss him to make sure that he didn’t.

“I can fix it,” he still managed to mumble against his lips, though Gabriel pulled back shaking his head, which made the other give him a very curious look; one brow raised high above the other. “Easily.”

“Mhm, no, I don’t think you should,” Gabriel replied as he moved away from him, going to the cabinets and rummaging around as he hummed to himself as if it was nothing.

“And why exactly shouldn’t I fix it?” Len asked in turn, annoyance starting to be obvious in his voice, though before it could go further Gabriel stood up again; the coy smirk appearing on his face again.

“Because for once,” he started, and then pulled a bottle with thick, green gel from behind his back and waving it in front of the others face. “Once my remedy might be better than yours.”

((This is the future of the still unnamed verse. Len is still first_donoharm, and Jim isn't bound to any muse, though I'm sure we'd like a Jim? Unless Ren has a Jim, then she should tell me! >:O!))
