Man this is beautiful, and so true. I never thought about what an optimist Cally kind of was, but she really had faith in people.

Also, lol forever at:

Captain Kelly was blowing up all the pilots because ... pilots kept dying. (...?)

Did that really happen? I'm afraid I never paid very close attention to that episode.

I THINK that's what his reasoning was. Something about sending pilots out there every day to die and so... he started to take matters into his own hands? To be fair, I guess he just snapped.

I must admit that the one thing I really disliked Cally for was her forgiving Baltar so easily and swallowing all his self-serving BS in Dirty Hands after the guy had condemned her to death only a few months earlier. I thought that this made her seem illogical and inconsistent. Your explanation of the strong Us vs. Them divide in her mind, where Baltar can still be forgiven because he is not one of Them, is the first explanation that makes sense to me and gives me a better insight into her character. Thanks - that was really an interesting read!
