The meme part of this works like so: Bold the ones you have read, strike through the ones you read and hated, italicize those you started but never finished and put a star next to the ones you love.

It's a lie - I doubt I finished it. It should probably be italicised and strikethrough ;) But it was ages ago. I did read LOTR a few times. Couldn't get through it nowadays!

The 20 page descriptions of forests and dwarven songsin LOTR drove me mad. Give me the Hobbit any day!

Hating Moorcock would depend a lot on where you start. Stormbringer and the rest of the fantasy is basically sword-n-sorcery with a few mod Carnaby Street touches (I can't imagine enjoying it now).

The Jerry Cornelius novels have a lot more to them.

Yeah I imagine the Jerry Cornelius ones are more interesting, but I've read a few of those stories here and there and I'm not sure I could be inspired to read a whole novel or set of 'em. Still, you're right that I probably wouldn't hate them.

Helllo! I could probably work this out by looking through your blogs but instead I'll just ask, cause it's more social-like (and i'm sometimes lazy): does you know of martin gardner? what does you think of him?
:) Hope things are well with you.

Yo C,
Martin Gardner's one of the best-known popular maths writers in the world, so yeah I've known of him since I was in school I think :) Why does you ask?
