benpeek did it. He gave me K. So I gotta do it now.

K is for:

Kid A, which is the point at which Radiohead started to be really exciting. Easily eclipsing OK Computer, Kid A combines sonic experimentalism (which doesn't, perhaps, match the skill of the electronic artists they admire so much, such as Autechre, but is nevertheless great stuff) with ( Read more... )

Hello! Tim took me to see Fourplay last night, and I had never heard you guys before, and I thought you were amazing. Also, I like your 'LiveGerbil' thing, so I hope it's okay if I add you!

I took some photos at the gig and have posted them in my journal, if you're at all interested!

Hiya! I saw Tim standing in front of the stage, and so I'm pretty sure I know who you were ;) [Well, maybe.]
Anyway, thanks! You're absolutely welcome to add me, but note that most of my blogging goes on over here rather.

Thanks for the photies - very nice! I will add your post and the Flickr pics to our links soon.

You like the KLF! And I swear I just heard a Grisman riff in "Downtown Nudnik"... may I symbolically indicate my approval by doing the LJ friend thing?

Why yes, you'd be welcome!
I have considerably more fanatical friends when it comes to the KLF, but it does rub off, and I think that in yr 11 or 12 I was the first of us to get one or two KLF singles ;) I have heaps of burns of rare stuff and even a few real rare things. Haven't listened to them a lot of late though.

I suspect you're just hearing similar influences re Grisman in Nudnik. I wrote it and didn't know Grisman, but then Shenzo's the soloist and did the improv stuff in the swing section, so it could come from there too ;)

David Grisman revolutionized bluegrass with his unique mandolin technique, and wrote a great deal of highly influential music in his own subgenre, which he called "dawg" music. It's fantastic stuff.

I know very little about the KLF's oeuvre, but I really like what I've heard.
