New Kittens, end

The triplets looked over their babies, who were sucking noisily at Popsey’s belly. VJ nudged Deev. “One looks like us.”

Jas sighed. “Two look like you. The colors anyway. None look like me.”

Jas was all one color. The new kittens were all spotted or tabby. “I had hoped…”

“But two are shaped like you were.” VJ pointed out ( Read more... )

I'm glad.

I can't see how she'll ever be as much trouble as Buttercup being that she's got three older, very devoted brothers, Six Aunties and Uncles (her grandparents' familiars) several aunts and uncles not much older than she is, and of course her aunt Annie (VJ's age) who is very, very Buttercup like.

I'm thinking Shiva will cause her trouble by sitting quietly and having her many devoted servants bring her gifts that they probably shouldn't have. I'm imaging Cleopatra on her golden litter, surrounded by devotees. Popsey will be saying, "I know the ring is pretty, but does your friend's parents know he gave it to you?"

But Buttercup has two fathers, three grandfathers, 7 adult uncles, and four brothers . . . none of them stand a chance against her. Strangely, it's Ranel's next litter (twins Zip and Zap. Or Zig and Zag depending on whether they're creating mayhem magically or physically . . . their real names are Helios and Hyacinth) who tame Buttercup.

Buttercup was probably the one who told one of her brother's to give Shiva the ring cos 'Papa wouldn't mind cos girls like pretty things . . . "

Have you written that? Because I don't remember reading it. I can't imagine Buttercup being tamable.

My daughter had a friend who used to "trade" toys, especially with younger children (she was three years older than my daughter) and sometimes with things that weren't hers. Her mom came over after the only trade she did with us, to make sure we were really okay with it. I don't remember what we let her have, but the little crystal bear we still have somewhere. But once her mom came over asking if she'd traded us a ring (from mom's jewelry box, but we hadn't seen it. About a year later, after that family had moved away, we found a ring in the grass in front of out house. I wonder if it's the same one.

Have seen these and read a few - very cute - going back to the beginning though so I've a better idea with who-is-who ;)

It feels nice to be here. Much more fun than writing by myself. Could I get you to read something I've been working on and look for Americanism that slipped in? It's set in Britain between the wars.

I know, so many characters. It was only after I'd spent an hour searching for the perfect names for the new kittens that I remembered that Deev and Jas are really DV and JS because Persian wizards never call their children by their names (knowing a Djinn's name gives you power of them and Persian wizards are descended from Djinn), so either the new kittens are really DD and JD and the like, or maybe these are their middle names like Baba (J Danyal).

Of course. Depends how long it is how fast I read it, but no problem.

I've been liking the stories but I need to check the beginnings for a refresh on the adults.
You always put a lot of thought into your naming.
