I think Don doesn't consider himself any different just because he's in a different form. Don-man and Don-dog are the same and I imagine (although I didn't have time for it) that he'd been trying to get Logan to treat him as such. And he won't. At least for a very long time.

I just attempted to read a shifter story where the were (man) and wolf are two completely different entities. They talk to each other and everything, so it seems like a love triangle (threesome-ish) story where two of the three share the same body. I don't know if I'm going to finish it.
