Are you serious?

I'm a bit irritated that it has come to this. I understand the city is trying to use a loophole to impact the business because of the complainers but talk about discrimination. Personally, I don't really care about these kinds of espresso bars, esp since I have a great machine at home and don't have the need to buy my drinks through espresso stands ( Read more... )

I've noticed more and more coffee stands calling themselves "family friendly" - meaning you might not accidentally see someone you would see on the beach.

I always wondered why the hooters in Bellevue closed up shop. I thought it was because it wasn't that busy....but now I'm rethinking that.

Maybe there's room for a class-action suit against Claudia Balducci.

ETA: also - now I'm gonna visit. Thanks for the heads up and free advertising for the coffee stand!!!!

I would totally take my kids to Hooters if ever invited to dine there, I hear the servers are super kind to children and it's really not a big deal to me. I love boobies and they are covered up ( ... )

Every time I've been to Hooters there are ALWAYS kids there.
There are always kids at the casino restaurants as well.

It's just part of the de-evolution through fake morality and hyper-reactionism through religion. If people aren't religious, they like to act pious anyway. Save the kids, they exhort. Everything is for the betterment of children, when in reality it's just to eliminate the ugly specter of choice on the part of the lazy hyperconsumerist parents.

Note the sly "near a park" addition by the journalist as well. Why is that pertinent?

They did mention the park proximity last night on the King 5 report and it made me lol because children are the only ones to use a park, give me a fucking break.

I think it's wrong that they'd take pictures of people going through the espresso stand and then posting them on the internet to try and 'shame them'. I think it's completely unprofessional for the Deputy Mayor to suggest such a thing.

Kat and I went to one in Tukwila and there was a guy there asking questions for his book. (He was updating a book on coffee in Western Washington. I guess it was some travel guide or something) He wanted to know if she was upset that I was taking us there, and he was stunned to find out it was all Kat's idea.

Sounds like someone needs a new hobby, perhaps that is why she is not the actual mayor?

I've always maintained that people reach a certain level of political office based on the skeletons in their closet. You get to be a Governor, for instance, because you're a relatively clean-living person, did well in school, never really did drugs, not much of a drinker, if at all, happy family, no arrest record, etc.

State senators slightly less so - maybe a drunk in public, or the cops were called out to the house once or twice for disorderly, but still pretty much nice people, good neighbors, etc.

...this woman is the deputy mayor of the 5th largest city in the state.
