That's what they say about kids who torture/harm animals without any conscience. I wish we could put her in the oven at a slow roast.

And it sounds like they did it to a person's home they broke into, I can't imagine the way the owner feels about their animal. I don't care if someone breaks into my place and steals my stuff, we have everything insured. But if they touched my cats or bird or fish I would hunt them down and hurt them right back in the same manner. Same goes for when I have children.

Makes me sad. Why do ppl bother having children if they aren't going to take care of them?

Life issues are the biggest reason. Poverty, addiction, divorce etc. I think that people that have these situations do love their kids (even with the worst abusers, there is almost ALWAYS love for the kids) and never expect to fall into a bad situation and then when they do, they have no means to cope with it and the family breaks down. The kids generally feel it twice as much as the adults. As a society, we're not very good at telling people that it's ok to need help and ask for it when we're at the end of our rope and it sucks that we look at things like parenting troubles as a sign that we're incompetent (before it gets out of hand, even) and stupid, rather than offering to help people learn the skills and tools they need to be effective and healthy.

No one wins in these situations and it breaks my heart.
