Quite a few people on my flist are doing a meme that involves listing all the fics you're currently working on. I considered doing that, but since I'm saving all the challenge-writing I've signed up for until after Finals, and since they're pretty much the same ones as everyone elses' (

That said, I tend to love Merlin fanfic. I love your idea...that you're never going to write. ;-)

But yeah, that show. I'm pretty sure that my friends and I are only watching it out of some masochistic train-wreck sort of thing at this point. (One of them only realised half-way through the second season that Gaius wasn't meant to be seen as a morally-dubious bastard XD) But there's quite a bit of good fic - have you read The Ivy Crown? - and redscharlach's ep recaps are also things of beauty :)

This is one of the things that really bothered me about Merlin. (The other being that Merlin is basically allowing hate crimes against his own people to continue by supporting the regime that upholds them.) I still enjoyed the show, though I'm not caught up on the newest seasons yet, it's just things like this that drive me nuts.

I'm so glad it's not just me upset by Merlin's awful writing. The plots are comically bad, and so frustrating because, as you said, if only the characters would SAY SOMETHING! I quit watching partly for that, and partly out of frustration that the "Merlin coming out of the magic closet" carrot kept getting yanked away. There was also the "Arthur isn't a douchebag anymore--oh wait, yes he is" carrot. And the "lie to Morgana because it's the obviously wrong thing to do" carrot, which has been noted.
I find the fanfic much more satisfying than the actual show. I'll need to read The Ivy Crown now!
