History International just had a pretty good documentary on St. Patrick, presenting a fairly well-rounded discussion of the legends of St. Patrick, including a great deal of the confabulation and controversy associated with his stories. And, while they didn't spend very much time on it, they did discuss how the ancient Irish goddesses and heroines

huh, I went to St Patrick's College for 5 years, and I didn't know ANY of that.

Well, when history is written and re-written by the conquerors, you always have to wonder, "what are they leaving out of this story?"
