So, if you're planning to crosspost your comments on my entries, or my comments on your entries, to Facebook or Twitter, now would be the time to let me know.

I would prefer to unfriend people in a civil manner now, rather than have to lose my shit later.

Obviously, I solemnly swear that I will not be crossposting anything.

lj is self-obsession honey, oh look at the state of that, linkage

Funny how there's been a distinct divide on the shrieking flists between "don't do this, I'm going to hunt you down and kill you" (43 209) and "cool idea, glad this finally works (0, nought, zero). One has to wonder about the private lives of the programmers or whoever devised this, proposed this, upvoted this, alpha-tested this, beta-tested this, rolled this out, without picking anything much up on the old antennae.

From what I can understand, Russian LJ just doesn't do locked posts, virtually everyone is public blogging and broadcasting. Plus a lot of people have comment accounts and never post totheir own journals, just comment, a lot, on other peoples.

I like the basic feature, but that it can be done on locked stuff is Just Wrong, and they really should be shot, not least for ruining the acceptance of what could've beena Good Thing (or at least, useful to me), simply by not thinkng about privacy, something that LJ used to be really good at.

This has worried me, I went over my profile settings again (as still a newbie). Checked that neither FB or TW are on, but think that someone can still crosspost who does have these on and I don't know how much will be visible even on 'friends only' stuff. This (and too many arseholes at work) is why I deleted my FB ages ago.

Some people are setting up with Dreamwidth for most of their posts now. I don't pretend to understand how DW works but guess it must be more locked down.
