Moroccan food ++

Last night I went for Moroccan food at Zagora, in Fletcher's Walk, Birmingham. It was divine. I had salad zaalouk (aubergine, spinach, tomato, olive oil and garlic cooked salad) followed by tagine rashidia (stuffed tomato, aubergine and bell pepper with tomato goo, cheese and herbs, served with vegetable-y rice). Best meal I've had in a long time. ( Read more... )

food is good, real life

It was the kind of food you eat really slowly with your eyes closed and try not to moan out loud.

*laughs* Yeah, you wanna see me eat baklava some time. I make noises so obscene that Traci Lords would blush to hear 'em...

GOD, yes.
Cous cous, savoury rice, roasted pepper, baked aubergines, houmous, falafel and pittapittapitta.

You saved me some, right?

Zagora win! I've been there on a reeeeally quiet night with my French class, so no bellydancer, but still great.

Maybe I should start bellydancing...

Haha... you just reminded me of one of the funniest restaurant/gender confusion experiences I've had. Middle eastern food on the lower east side in Manhattan with Alisa and two (female) friends of hers. The guy serving us came to me every time - to ask for drink and food orders, ask if everything was OK etc. That was embarrassing enough, given I didn't know the two friends of hers so well. Then we asked for the bill, and kept asking. They took every excuse not to give it to us for the next half hour or more. We then found out why - they wanted to be sure that we stayed for me to enjoy the belly dancer (yes, women can enjoy them too, but this one was only dancing for the guys). At which point I finally gave in and turned round, making my chest a bit more prominent. They gave us the bill pretty quickly then... (But Alisa and the others said they'd never seen me turn so red with embarrassment)
