Second thought. We were trying to untangle the intense symbolism in Bruce's work on the bus home. What was up with the ice cream motif? The Mixmaster blenders, the ice cream guy, the villains being put into ice cream containers by the naked women?
"Maybe Bruce really likes ice cream," Kaija said.
"Let's test that theory," I said. "Next week, we'll stop at the 24 hr store on our way to Racer and get a pint of some ice cream. We'll get them to put it in the freezer. Then when Bruce comes in, we get it and we'll say, 'Hey, Bruce, ice cream!', and see what happens.
"Hopefully he won't swell up and his eyes bug out and get real big and then he collapses on himself .."
"..And he turns into a big hand and grabs the ice cream from us.."
"..And then he turns into a big blue demon who eats the ice cream!"
Mmm, ice cream. It was all I could do to keep from getting a pint of Ben & Jerry's on the way home.
