[After the town returned to normal, Mindy has been getting back to life in Mayfield.  She gets up, goes to school, returns home and sits in her room until dinner. [After a few days of this, there is a light knock on the door to Mindy's bedroom.]

[There is a long silence before a very soft voice replies..]

.....Yes?

Can mommy come in?

[friendly_ghosts]

[On his way back from school one morning, Lucas finds himself walking a short distance behind a very unhappy looking young girl. He isn't in very good spirits himself, but . . . ]

Hi, Mindy.

[friendly_ghosts]

[She turns around to look at him, then looks away again.]

Oh. Hi Lucas....

[a_gentle_boy]

. . . Are you alright?

[For her sake, he manages a gentle smile as he falls into step beside her.]

[friendly_ghosts]

I'm fine.....

[She isn't, but she doesn't want to cause problems by complaining. In fairness, the last time she complained in public about something the town did, she got shot.]

[Pokey's been watching you for a few days, kid. He had hoped that, whatever went wrong, it'd eventually resolve itself. When it doesn't? Pretty clear he may have to do something. So, eventually, he'll go and follow Mindy for a moment before daring to say something.]

....Hey.

[friendly_ghosts]

[she looks at him for a long moment. And just when it looks like she might say something, she changes her mind and instead steps toward him suddenly. She clings to his shirt with one hand and buries her face in his side, seeking comfort.]

[Crap. Craaaaaaaap. Yeah, if there's something he doesn't really know how to do that well, it's comfort someone. For a moment, he thinks about just pushing the girl off of him and walking away. Hell, he could probably do it in one push. Maybe just kick her to the ground.

Instead, he just puts one arm around her and a hand on her head, patting a little.]

Hey. It's okay. They're gone.

[friendly_ghosts]

[Yeah, it would only take one push. Except now she's clinging tighter, with both hands. And those may be tears in her eyes. She knows the Hazmats are gone. She also knows that Lucy Smith can bring them back whenever she feels like it. But that isn't what's bothering Mindy, anyway.... So after a few shuddery breaths, a very quiet question will be asked.]

Pokey..... Do you think I'm a bad girl?

[couldbeeeepthem]

[Big sis stands in the doorway.]

[Little sis huddles under a blanket with her teddy bear.]

Mindy.

One of my friends has been droned. I need a hug. I was hoping you could help me with one.

[friendly_ghosts]

[There is a pause. Then some watery eyes with a quivering lower lip appears from under the blanket. Then she nods and slowly pushes aside the blankets and walks over to wrap her arms around her sister's waist. There may also be a tiny sob and some tears although that's mostly a release of pent up emotion.]

[The quiet girl who is always here visiting your sister is looking in the doorway to your room.]

[Mindy peeks out from under her bedcovers curiously.]
