As you know I'm the daughter of somebody who had myotonic dystrophy. So as soon as she got diagnosed (which took years, until she saw the right specialist and he diagnosed her just by watching her walk to his office) I knew that I was in a high-risk group. But we're a lucky family in that this disease is inherited in a simple Mendelian way, so as soon as the genetic test became available it didn't occur to me to anything but have it done. It came back negative, and actually, if I'd had MD it would have been bleedin' obvious by my current age (43
