I see it as a very temporary reprieve. The Republicans will try again. But at least I feel fairly sure things won't change on me in the next few months, and hopefully I can have a couple of procedures done next fall or winter. I was worrying I'd have the whole thing yanked out from under my feet in the next few months. But, yeah, temporary. And the next try will be offering a WORSE plan, because they will write it to please the "Freedom Caucus" (ie, complete shitheels), who want a total repeal and no government subsidized health care. It'll give them the votes they need.
I'm catching my breath for the first time since November, but the financial support system for disabled people in the States already sucked before Trump took office. And there are still all his and the Republicans' other awful plans in the works. And I also don't think it's the last attack on health care. So I still have work to do.
While this is great news for all my chronically-ill and/or poor friends in the US, it's really only a temporary reprieve. I know of at least one person who committed suicide because they were so scared of what would happen when the Affordable Care Act was withdrawn, and I'm certain they weren't the only one. It's good that people will continue to have coverage for their long-term, pre-existing conditions - but it doesn't bring anyone back.
