It will be interesting to see how this works out. Not to mention Boris Johnson. Hubby said he felt this was a "Hiawata move" and hopefully it will work like that. Fingers crossed!

What does 'a Hiawata move' mean?

Since starting this thread I've seen reports that Jeremy Hunt kept his job as Health Secretary. Also that Damian Green is the new Secretary of State for Work and Pensions. Each of those will affect us, the disabled people.

Hunt has offended disabled people, and other groups, with daft moves like the 'bedroom tax' which limits housing benefit payments if rented homes have bedrooms not slept in every night. Such homes are classed as 'under occupied'. It doesn't matter if the 'empty' room is essential for a carer, a support worker, a parent or a child. That room isn't to be funded under Hunt's rule.

As for Green, who's he? I hope he won't worsen the paying of crip benefits.

According to legend (which I tried to google, but couldn't find now) Hiawat(h)a was a reckless, irresponsible young man, and his tribe did not know what to do with him to make him behave. So in a desperate move he was made chief, with the hope that having to carry the burden of responsibility would make him a responsible man. Which it is said it did, marvellouly, as he became a great chief in troubled times.
